Krishna Menon Museum was established in the year 1975. It is located next to the Pazhassi Raja museum within 5 km from the centre of the Kozhikode district. It was founded in order to honour the late legend V.K Krishna Menon, the famous freedom fighter of India. The things used by Krishna Menon are kept in this museum. Previously this museum was used as Malabar collector’s bungalow. Currently it is under the control of the department of museum and zoo of Kerala government.
Collections of Krishna Menon Museum
It has large collections of Raja Ravi Varma and his brother Raja Raja Varma. It has totally 60 different varieties of paintings which has the old mural paintings and the copy of ancient traditional paintings of Kerala. It also has the collections of Ajantha, Japanese, Mughal, Somappalli, Bangali and Chinese. The personal belongings of Krishna Menon are also kept in this museum in order to honor him.
How to reach
Kozhikode railway station is the nearest railway station located within 6 km away from this museum. Buses are operated from Kozhikode bus stop. It will be kept open on all days except Mondays and in government holidays from 10.00 am to 4.45 pm. Only on Wednesdays it is kept open from 1 pm to 4.45 pm.
